What is the difference between Polypro and HDPE tubing?

A: Polypro is a hard translucent plastic tubing that is most commonly used for hula hoops. It is known to be more brittle in colder weather, so it can break and crack easier. HDPE is a softer, milky white tubing that is best for cold weather hooping. The weight difference between HDPE and Polypro is barely noticeable.

What is the difference between 1/2”, 5/8”, 11/16” and 3/4” tubing?

A: 1/2” tubing is about the size of your pinky finger, 5/8” is about the size of your thumb or the same as a nickel, 11/16” is slightly larger than 5/8” but smaller than 3/4” and the tubing wall is thicker than 5/8” which makes it heavier and more sturdy and 3/4” is thick like a quarter.

How should I uncoil my hoop after I receive it in the mail?

A: If your hoop is 24” and under, it will come coiled down covered in bubble wrap and pieces of electrical tape. Take the bubble wrap off (and reuse if you can!) and gently cut the electrical tape with scissors. Let your hoop rest flat on the ground, in the sun is even better, to help prevent your hoop from being oval in shape. Let rest 24 hours.

Yes, every taped hoop from Clouded Circles will have a layer of clear protective tape added on to ensure the life and look of your hoops. This clear protective tape is strong and durable to prevent minor scuffs and scrapes to Deco Tape, however it does not give the hoop invincibility. Please still use caution on certain surfaces when hooping. For example, rough concrete.
